Background

"Luna" means Moon which has its roots in Greek mythology; Selene was the Greek goddess of the Moon. Selene, as the personification of the Moon, was an influential goddess. One of her best known myths involves the handsome Endymion. The moon-goddess fell in love with this mortal, and she therefore engaged in an affair with Endymion that resulted in the birth of fifty daughters. But Endymion was, alas, human, and so susceptible to aging and eventually death. Selene could not bear the thought of this cruel fate. According to one version of the myth, she made certain that Endymion would remain eternally youthful by casting a spell that would cause him to sleep forever. In this way, Endymion would always live, sleeping through the ages. Selene was called "Luna" in Roman mythology.

It takes a lot more time to dice up all the ingredient than open a can but at Luna Grill we believe it is worth the extra time to prepare everything fresh. Our chicken and meats are marinated for hours and are made to order.

About Persian Food

Present Persian cuisine originated with the spices and searing style of cooking of the original settlers of the region who believed food of nature nourishes the body and soul. Food was perceived as a blessing and a manifestation of love, thus preparation of food was a ritual and meals were a time to cherish this blessing of nature.

Centuries later, Persians use these same spices as well as various new spices introduced from the East through the 'silk road.' Persians have developed cooking techniques to bring out the full taste of the ingredients in a healthy manner. For example, cooking of rice has been perfected to extract the starch while retaining all the valuable nutrients and delicious flavor. This technique creates our aromatic and fluffy rice that is guaranteed to delight your palate. Also, seasoning and searing of kebabs is done in such delicate manner as to eliminate fat and bacteria but maintain the mouthwatering flavor. After using traditional Persian spices to marinate the meat, a metal skewer holds the kebab while searing over an open flame, which allows the kebab to cook evenly from the inside to the outside.

About Greek Food

Greek cuisine is known for lots of olive oil, feta cheese, fresh vegetables and nuts. Dishes vary according to the local specialities. For example, mountainous areas are popular for their meat dishes, while in the islands cuisine is largely based on a variety of fresh fish. Grilled meat and fish, the mouth watering gyros, oven baked spinach pie (Spanakopita) and of course the infamous Greek Salad are few to mention.
